The students have been busy preparing for the Christmas Concert and designing and creating gifts, They have also been busy learning about reading and understanding the central message of a story. THis is the lesson that the author wants the reader to learn. Some examples of books that have lessons are Jack and the Beanstalk, The Ugly Duckling and The Emorer's New Clothes. See if your child can share the central message in a story from home!
The class has been doing exceptionally well in identifying, contrasting and comparing 2 and 3 dimensional shapes and learning about equal shares (1/2, 1/3, 1/4). We will be finishing up this unit in Math this week! A hot topic in our classroom right now is maps vs. globes. We are discovering many things, including directions, a compass rose, symbols and more! We will have our Christmas Party on December 21st, which will also include our PBIS celebration (bring your personal electronic device). If you are interested in sending a treat, please respond to this survey! docs.google.com/forms/d/1vgz9E1pFxzxjCcmbrFXDmKGsowNxZ3nXrECHDYeSyMI/edit Our school is collecting donations for several charities, rather than participating in a gift exchange. The first grade is collecting for the Humane Society. A note was sent home last week with items that are needed. Please send in soon! Thank you!
