The first week of March was very busy for us! We have been celebrating Dr. Seuss this week. Check out Channel 12 News for Miss Melody tonight! Each day we have been wearing different clothing in honor of Dr. Seuss books. We also attended a Google Hangout with Mrs. Rumney, as she read a favorite Dr. Seuss story! A Hangout is similar to Skype, but is through Google. Several classrooms in the district participated and we were able to interact live! How cool is that?!?!?
We also started working on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) projects. What fun! We are starting with small projects to learn what kind of behavior is expected and how to cooperate so we can stay focused and accomplish our goal. Some groups have been very successful, while others are still learning! :) Our first project was called "Saving Sam the Worm". There are several examples of this on Youtube! Other projects included creating the largest, sturdiest building with 15 pipe cleaners and creating a boat out of foil that will carry 20 pennies. Pictures will be posted soon! Next week we will begin a project on recycling digital items, such as old phones, computer parts, dvds, floppy discs and other storage discs. If you have anything that you would like to donate, please send to school by March 8th. We are continuing to work on our individual websites. We should have a second video uploaded by next week! REMINDER: Field trip permission forms are due on Friday. There IS A COST! Please send $7 with the form. Thank you!
